Fort Pickering
This fort was built near Salem, N.H. in 1798. It was used by the Americans to command the Harbour and the entrance to the North and South Rivers. It was fortified and garrisoned in 1814 when it was feared that British Captain Sir Thomas Hardy might sail into the area after taking the town of Eastport and other villages around Passamaquoddy Bay.
