| After the massacre of U.S. troops at Frenchtown, Harrison decided to build a fortification on a bluff overlooking Ohio's Maumee River rapids. On May 1,1813, the British began a long siege of the fort. Control of Fort Meigs passed between British and American hands several times throughout the war. |
