John Quincy Adams
|
Of the three American Peace negotiators, John Quincy Adams was the most
serious of the delegation. He studied for at least five hours a day, woke
up before dawn, and retired around nine. He had "little talent for society",
and was often quite judgmental of his fellow ambassadors. Moderately disagreeable
and overly formal, he had difficulty getting along with his fellow delegates
during their stay in Russia, but he later came to be admired by all of them
for his wit and sincerity.
He became president of the United States in 1824. |
