Alexander Macomb
|
Alexander Macomb was in charge
of land forces at Plattsburg in September of 1814 when he was faced with
the far superior numbers of invading British. His resourcefulness fooled
the British into believing that he had a much larger force at his disposal.
His efforts to camouflage the roads leading to the Saranac River resulted
in the British getting lost for a couple of hours and attacking much later
than the naval forces that met the American fleet. |
