Adam Muir

British

Major Adam Muir was a respected officer of the British 41st Foot. He was instrumental in organizing skirmishes which prevented supplies from reaching Detroit. In Brownstown, near the River Raisin, he tried in vain to save the life of a young American soldier on whom the Indians were avenging a fallen chief. Later at Maguaga, Muir and Tecumseh conducted a surprise raid on an American supply train as they made another attempt to reach Fort Detroit. Muir was hit by musket fire several times, but managed to get most of his men to safety. These raids were successful in demoralizing American troops.

Muir and the 41st Foot served under Major General Procter at the infamous Battle of Frenchtown in early 1813. Muir was taken prisoner and held in Kentucky for some months before being exchanged back to Canada.
