Frederic Rolette

Frederic
Rolette was a bold and quick-thinking Provincial Marine from Quebec. He
was present at two of the most famous naval conflicts of the era: that of
the Nile, and the Battle of Trafalgar. Rolette served on the Detroit frontier
where his level-headedness and leadership skills resulted in the capture
of the American schooner, Cuyahoga Packet.
In October of 1812, Lieutenant Jesse Elliot mounted a daring American raid on British ships at Fort Erie and Rolette was taken prisoner. Through a prisoner exchange after the battle in Queenston Heights, Rolette was returned home in time to fight at Frenchtown in 1813. |
