The Black Hills Crazy Horse Memorial |
|
A memorial mountain carving of Crazy Horse, a Sioux leader at the battle of Little Bighorn, is under construction in the Black Hills of western South Dakota. The Crazy Horse memorial will be 563 feet high and 641 feet long when it is completed. So far, only the nine-storey-high face of Crazy Horse and the access road around the upper portion of the 219 feet-high horse's head have been unveiled. The Sioux nation memorial is located just 17 miles from the American shrine to its history, Mount Rushmore, also in the heart of the Black Hills.
