FOUR GEMINI AWARD NOMINATIONS FOR GALAFILM DRAMATIC SERIES & DOCUMENTARY

MONTREAL – Tuesday, October 26, 2004 – The Academy of Canadian Cinema and Television honoured Galafilm with a total of four Gemini Award nominations for our dramatic and documentary programming.

Bliss III garnered three nominations including Best Dramatic Series, Best Production Design or Art Direction in a Dramatic Program or Series (Donna Noonan, Steph’s Life) and Best Sound in a Dramatic Series (Peter Lopata, Louis Hone, Paul Hubert, Stan Sakellaropoulos, Gabor Vadnay)

Brian McKenna’s acclaimed four-part documentary series Korea: The Unfinished War also received a nomination for Best Original Music Score for a Documentary Program or Series (Jean-Louis Valero). The series was broadcast on TVO and TFO.

BLISS III, produced by 2003 Primetime Emmy Award winner Arnie Gelbart, Janis Lundman, Adrienne Mitchell and Ian Whitehead is a Galafilm/Back Alley Films co-production, developed in association with Showcase as a Showcase Original Series, is the first erotica television series ever to tell stories from a female perspective. The new season, as with the last two, are directed and written by Canadian women. The stories are diverse, edgy, and provocative, deftly showcasing the power and richness in women taking back and owning their sexuality. The series challenges stereotypes and preconceived notions of women’s sexuality.

The series broadcasters include Showcase, TMN – The Movie Network, Movie Central, and Super Ecran. Oxygen Media is on board for the third time with a licence for broadcast in the United States.
