Service has a long and rich story. It's a ritual that says as much about the people being served as it does about those serving them. AT YOUR SERVICE takes a look at modern service, starting with its origins in post-revolutionary France and the American department-store flourish in the late 1800's. Reflecting our time, culture and values, the program highlights the individualism of the crusty, old, egg-slinging waitress of the 1950's to the mass, self-service of the 1980's to the politely programmed "serving person" of today.
