At the most basic level, you must have complete control of your voice because the slightest change in decibel level (that's the sound of your voice) can change a spell's result. Remember what happened when Mildred's summer drink overflowed onto her desk? Her voice was too loud. This is why chanting is so important, because it builds the strength of the voice and diaphragm (a muscle in your stomach, which helps you breathe).

There are many different types of spells and they each follow their own unique path. If you don't know what you're doing though, they can have some funny side effects. What happens when too many things happen at once? You lose track of what's going on and you become confused. The same thing can happen when casting too many spells. With all that energy flying around at the same time, magical paths cross over and cause something known as the Dr. Foster Effect. This reaction has created all sorts of natural disasters, so it pays to study hard at potions and spells.

A simple reversing spell will fix most things, but since magic is not to be used for selfish and trivial ends, wishes to turn your worst enemy into a pig don't qualify as self-defense and extreme circumstances. Casting spells is a lot of fun, and we sometimes get carried away with fun things, so be careful and make sure you know what you're doing before you start.
